Brendan is a Queenslander born and bred. He’s a SLOB (St Leo’s Old Boy) at heart and graduated from the University of QLD with a Bachelor of Laws in 1988. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 1990, the High Court of Australia in September 1990, and the Supreme Court of NSW in December 1991.
After admission, Brendan initially practised in QLD. In 1993, he moved to NSW to take up a position with Northern Rivers firm Stone & Partners in 1993. Brendan was a Partner with Stone & Partners from 1996 until 2005, when he started the firm Bourke Love McCartney Young. He remained in partnership with BLMY until 2009, when he started Bourke Love Lawyers in partnership with Tony Love.
Brendan loves the great outdoors, and when not in the office, spends his time hiking with his wife Michelle, road cycling for Team Smith and barra fishing.
Tony grew up in Lismore, schooled at Trinity Catholic College and graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Business in 1992, and a Bachelor of Laws in 1995. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia in 1996.
While studying, Tony took up a position with Northern Rivers firm Stone & Partners, and was made partner of that firm in 2002. In 2005, Tony started firm Bourke Love McCartney Young, and in 2009, commenced Bourke Love Lawyers in partnership with Brendan Bourke, heading up the firm’s Lismore office.
Tony’s ideal weekend involves bass fishing on the Clarence River, a bit of recreational target shooting, working on his farm and looking after his cows.
Lynetta Love has been working in a legal capacity for more than 25 years. Her career began in 1991 as an Articled Clerk to Mark Orchard in Toowoomba, as she completed her Bachelor of Laws at QUT externally. She gained admission to the Supreme Court of QLD in 1997, the High Court in 1998 and the Supreme Court of NSW in 2003. She has been an integral part of Bourke Love Lawyers for 10 years.
In an effort to maintain her own equilibrium, Lynetta spends plenty of time outside enjoying the hinterland which she is fortunate enough to live in with her three boys.
Pania Watt has been with Bourke Love Lawyers since 2004, when the firm was still known as Stone & Partners. She attended Southern Cross University at Lismore whilst working in the firm’s Ballina office, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2010 after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 2009.
After working in Ballina for 13 years, Pania now heads up Bourke Love’s office at Kingscliff, and regularly travels to the Bourke Love offices at Lismore and Ballina to see clients.
When not at work, Pania goes camping with her young family, enjoys exploring the Gold Coast’s beautiful hinterland (usually in search of a winery) and is learning to surf.
Jessica Prasser completed her schooling at Trinity Catholic College in Lismore and Alstonville High School, graduating in 2008. She then went on to Griffith University in Brisbane, QLD to study a double degree in Business and Law.
Jessica joined Bourke Love in 2014, initially assisting Pania Watt and Brendan Bourke. Following her admission to the Supreme Court of NSW in May 2015, Jessica took up practice in Bourke Love’s Ballina office, and regularly travels to the Bourke Love offices at Lismore and Kingscliff to see clients.
When not at work, you will find Jessica keeping fit by doing the Lighthouse walk at Byron or playing social soccer at Bangalow as well as spending time with friends and family at Wategos, her favourite beach.
Lisette Lyons came to Bourke Love at the end of 2011 with nearly 10 years of experience as a Legal Secretary. Lisette’s strengths lie in her ability to coordinate, organise and facilitate the trickiest of transactions, which led to her taking on a new role as Bourke Love’s Practice
Co-ordinator in 2015.
Based out of Bourke Love’s Ballina office, Lisette is responsible for the day to day operations of a busy, multi-office law firm, including IT, marketing, advertising, maintaining client and supplier relationships, managing personnel, staff training, acquisition and development.
When not at work, Lisette chases her three energetic children (one of which her husband) and plans her next escape to New Zealand to add to her wine collection.
Lisa Naumovski started her career straight after high school. She began as a Legal Secretary at a boutique inner city law firm and as a barrister’s clerk. Lisa achieved an Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) at Southern Cross University in 2000, while working for local firm Stone & Partners (as secretary to Brendan Bourke) and juggling two boys and a baby daughter.
When not at work, you’ll find Lisa anywhere in her beloved Kingscliff, catching a film at the Cineplex, trying to win trivia at the Cudgen Leagues Club, or enjoying the view from the Surf Club’s deck.
Deanne brings to Bourke Love a background of 14 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, as well as experience as a Bookkeeper and Accounts Manager. She moved to Ballina from Lismore in 2017 to take up a position as Legal Secretary to Brendan Bourke, and is enjoying a change of scenery and the demands of her new role.
Away from work, Deanne loves riding her bike with her partner and taking in the beautiful surrounds of Ballina, walking her fur-baby, Loki, at Flat Rock, and indulging a love for cooking.
Amy began working with Bourke Love as a Receptionist in early 2016. In late 2016, she took on a new role as Legal Secretary to Lynetta James, Senior Lawyer at our Lismore office. In 2017, Amy completed a Certificate III in Business Administration.
Away from work, Amy spends her weekends supporting her partner Mason as he races at every speedway between Lismore and Kingaroy, playing sport herself, and relishing the rural life with her horse, dog and cat at the family farm just outside Lismore.
